The monumental, tiered entrance tower of a uth Indian Hindu temple. In textiles, this translates to a triangular, stepped, or spired geometry resembling a temple silhouette.

The main body of the saree is covered in symmetrical squares or checks. These are formed by intersecting vertical and horizontal threads (warp and weft) during the handloom weaving process. Depending on the style, these can be Zari Kattam (metallic gold/silver threads forming the lines) or micro-checks (Mini Kattam)
